Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of a woman in Barnet.
Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Aitken Road shortly after 1.40am this morning.
Officers forced entry to the property and found the lifeless body of a woman, who is believed to be 69 years old.
She was pronounced dead at 2.10am.
Next of kin are aware and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled.
A 42-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and has been taken into custody at a north London police station.
Police have said they are not seeking any further suspects in connection with the incident.
