Police cordoned off a house in Aitken Road while they carried out their investigation.
A man accused of murdering his 69-year-old mother has been remanded in custody.
Mohammed Badvie, 42, of Aitken Road, Barnet, appeared at the Central Criminal Court today accused of murdering his mother Badri Dabir.
Police were called to an address in Aitken Road shortly after 1.40am on Saturday.
They forced entry to the house, where they found the body of a 69-year-old woman who was pronounced dead at 2.10am.
A post mortem gave the cause of death as head injuries.
Mr Badvie will appear at the Central Criminal Court for a plea and case management on December 24.
