Middlesex University students will show off their mechanical engineering skills in a national competition this week.
Three teams from the university in Hendon will go head-to-head with apprentices and students in the finals of the WorldSkills UK National Competitions at The Skills Show.
Contestants will be tested in 70 fields from floristry to engineering before the winners are crowned on Saturday at the NEC Birmingham.
Middlesex has one team in the mobile robotics category and two in the mechatronics category, including design-engineering student Calum Knott.
Calum, who is from Cockfosters, said: “I’m excited about the competition, but obviously a little nervous.
“We’ll be completing a number of tasks in the competition, which increase in complexity as we progress. But we’ve been training hard and I’ve got a strong team, so hopefully we’ll do well.”
