A record number of Christmas trees were shredded and recycled in the borough of Hertsmere this year.
A total of 46 firs were turned to mulch in Oakmere car park in Potters Bar, with 214 trees recycled in four locations across the borough – beating last year’s total of 193.
Council gardeners used shredding machines to reduce the trees to mulch, which will be spread across the borough’s flower beds.
