Children were encouraged to tell their parents about the dangers of bad parking at their school assembly this morning.
Pupils from Shenley Primary School were visited by members of the Potters Bar and Shenley Safer Neighbourhood Team to speak about the rules of the road.
The talk to 300 children, aged between three and 11, was given by PC Tony Watson and PCSO Graham Tippett.
An eye catching banner, funded by Hertsmere Community Safety Partnership, have also been put up outside the school to remind drivers about the parking restrictions in the area.
PC Tony Watson said: “We have had an ongoing issue with parents parking illegally and dangerously outside Shenley Primary School. We want to make sure we prevent a serious collision – or worse – by educating pupils and their parents.
“We hope that the pupils will tell their parents or carers not to park dangerously or illegally when dropping them off or picking them up from school.
“We want them to think about their own safety.”
Those seen parking illegally could be issued with a £30 fine.
