Barnet Council has been handed more than £700,000 to spend on improving cycling facilities in the borough.
Boris Johnson and Transport for London this week announced additional funding of £17million split across the capital’s 32 boroughs.
Barnet is set to receive £717,500 of that total for spending on training for cyclists and improved facilities, including parking areas.
Transport charity Sustrans’ welcomed news of the cash injection. London director German Dector-Vega said: “Borough support for cycling is arguably the most important as it gives local communities, especially children and young adults, the training, safety awareness and facilities needed to gain cycling confidence.”
