Strike action is expected to cause disruption when London Underground staff stage the first of two walkouts next week.

Members of the RMT and TSSA unions have threatened two 48-hour strikes on Tuesday, February 4, and Tuesday, February 11, in a row over major modernisation plans.

London Underground is looking at reducing ticket office staff in all stations  and moving towards a 24-hour tube service.

The rail operator says it will provide more staff visible to customers on platforms, but the workers’ unions are concerned about job losses.

London Mayor Boris Johnson and Transport for London today announced its plans to keep as many services operating as possible during the walk out.
