A residents' association has declared all-out war' on the proposed rebuilding and upgrading of an Edgware primary school.
Edgware Residents' Association says plans to rebuild Broadfields Primary School, in Broadfields Avenue, will result in loss of green space and create traffic problems. The upgrade of the school, which includes selling off land to property developers to raise cash, is part of a £218 million project to improve primary schools across Barnet. But Robert Abbey, chairman of the Edgware residents' association, said: "We will oppose this."
Council documents state loss of playing fields on the existing site should be considered in the context of...the funding that is required', but a council spokeswoman said: "Whatever is built will be sensitive to the area and there will be no building on Green Belt land."
