A campaign to collect bras for charity has closed after receiving 1,319 donations.
The Broadwalk Centre, in Edgware, launched its bra bank in May, to support Breast Cancer Care charity. Women donated wearable but unwanted bras to help breast cancer sufferers and their families.
The bras are weighed, with £1 per kilo donated to the charity. They are then exported to developing countries, where traders sell them to support their families.
Angela Brooks, centre manager at The Broadwalk Centre, said: “The Bra Bank campaign has been a huge success and we would like to thank everyone who has donated their unwanted bras. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK and we are pleased to have been part of the fundraising to help everyone whose lives have been touched by this disease.”
