An apprentice says he feels “lucky” to have landed his ideal job.

Josh Myers, 21, is working for a cultural venues and heritage operations NVQ at the Royal Institute of British Architects, based near Oxford Circus.

He joined in February, after months of searching.

He said: “I get involved in quite a lot of different projects, a lot of administration and office support. There’s a lot of variety, and some really interesting things. It feels good to know that I’m making a contribution.”

Mr Myers, who lives in Potters Bar, said: “I got it through trial and error really. I applied for a range of different things, as I knew I didn’t want to go to university. It’s very competitive, but I got lucky. It's ideal."

A former pupil at Mount Grace School, in Church Road, Potters Bar, he said he would recommend anyone getting ready to leave school to look into apprenticeships.

He added: “It’s a great opportunity. I’m learning some really important skills.”
