People are being urged to get a free finger prick test to check for HIV.

Barnet Borough Council’s public health team is working with voluntary groups to raise awareness about HIV testing week, from November 22 to 29.

In Barnet, between 2011 and 2013, 54 per cent of HIV diagnoses were made at a late stage of infection, compared to 50 per cent for the rest of England.

Tests are available at Community Hospital, Edgware, on Thursday November 27 from 9am to 12 noon.

They will also be available at The Broadwalk Centre, Edgware, on Saturday November 29 from 11am to 2pm.
