“Exciting times” are ahead for a school as it counts down the days until its new campus opens.
Work is underway on The Archer Academy’s new Stanley Road campus, in East Finchley, which will eventually cater for 450 pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9.
Facilities will include football pitches, sports courts and a gym and climbing wall, which will be open to the public after school and at weekends.
Year 10 and 11 pupils will be based at the school’s current site in Beaumont Close, behind East Finchley station.
Work started last May, and the site will be handed over to the school in June.
Headteacher Mick Quigley said: “It’s a very exciting time for the Archer Academy. The children and the staff are really looking forward to it.”
Chairman of governors Avis Johns said: “It’s amazing to see it come together. I have seen Stanley Road fall to wreck and ruin, and there was a desire to keep it for the community.
“The fact we can suddenly have top class facilities in the middle of the community is brilliant.”
