SCOTLAND'S Marc Warren, who missed the cut in both his previous appearances, today moved into a share of the lead in the Dunhill Links Championship.
Warren carded an opening 66 at St Andrews, one of three courses being used for the pro-am.
His second round today was at last year's Open venue Carnoustie, widely accepted to be the hardest of the three courses, but the World Cup winner picked up two early birdies to join Soren Hansen and Ross Fisher at the top of the leaderboard.
Warren, who will be unable to defend the trophy he won for Scotland with Colin Montgomerie after sliding down the world rankings, parred the first but picked up shots on the second and third to improve to eight-under.
Ryder Cup player Hansen had opened with three pars at St Andrews while Fisher was also playing the Old Course and began with a par four.
There was not such good news for Monty however, the Scot dropping shots at the second and third to fall back to level par and a share of 83rd place.
