People can get tips on how to prevent falling victim to fraud at an event this week.

Police Community Support Officers, Hertsmere Trading Standards and staff from Barclays are running a public awareness event at Barclays' Potters Bar branch, in Darkes Lane, this Friday from 12pm to 1pm.

Presentations will be given about scams currently affecting people in the area, including rogue traders and bank fraud, and security measures that can be taken.

PCSO Cheryl Lavell said: “This is a great opportunity for local residents to learn about a number of scams currently operating in the county and take sensible, yet simple, measures to help themselves avoid becoming victims of such crimes.

“Not only is this an ideal chance for people to take advice on board first hand, they can also then go back to their relatives, friends and neighbours armed with the latest information and help them become fraud aware too."
