A woman has been left with “nightmares” after she was robbed of her sentimental jewellery while she was on holiday.

The woman, who lives in First Avenue, in Hendon, with her family received a phone call from her cleaner to say her home had been ransacked last Monday.

They stole necklaces which had been bought in Singapore and belonged to the woman’s late mother, her engagement ring, a laptop with irreplaceable photographs and a leather jacket.

She said: “I broke down and cried when my cleaner called me. All I care now is that I’ve got nothing to remember my late mum with – I’ve got nothing left of her.

“I don’t care about the monetary value. I’ve been having nightmares about what happened.”

Her husband had to cut their trip, to the coast of England, short to deal with the police and forensics team.

In a statement, police said: “Police were called to First Avenue, Hendon, on Monday August 17 at 6.20pm following reports of a burglary.

“The occupant were away from their property and returned home after they were alerted by their cleaner that an unknown person had gained access.

“The occupants returned to find the property insecure and a number of rooms ransacked.

“The property had been left locked and secured on Sunday, August 17 at approximately 2pm.

“Jewellery and personal documents were taken.”

Police are investigating and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting crime reference number 2418649/15.
