A MAN has died after a flat fire in High Barnet.
Firefighters, paramedics and police were called to the scene in Finch Close at 5.53am this morning.
The man, aged in his mid-50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Next of kin have yet to be informed and formal identification and a post mortem will be scheduled in due course. At this early stage, the death is being treated as unexplained. Inquiries continue.”
Two fire engines and 14 firefighters and officers from Barnet and Southgate fire stations were called to the fire, which was brought under control by 6.25am.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by London Fire Brigade’s Fire Investigation Unit and the Metropolitan Police.
