THE leader of Barnet’s Labour group has been shortlisted as a candidate for the London Assembly.

East Finchley councillor Alison Moore will stand as a London-wide candidate during next May’s elections.

Cllr Moore is one of 11 list assembly candidates, and has been placed at number five – with the seats distributed depending on the order of the list.

She said: “I am absolutely delighted to have been placed so high up. It was a really competitive field of candidates. I am privileged, it is tremendous.

“I am going in to fight a London-wide campaign, and to support Andrew Dismore. I am really looking forward to fighting as a listed candidate.

“I have experience as leader of the Labour group for ten years, and I have been in London local government for 17 years. I think I have got something to give. I am known as a campaigning councillor.”

Andrew Dismore has also been confirmed as the party’s candidate for the Barnet and Camden constituency seat.

Len Duvall AM, chairman of the London Labour Regional Board, said: “This is an exceptional list of candidates full of talent and experience. It’s also a list that reflects London in terms of women, BAME and LGBT candidates.

"It’s the strongest team we’ve ever had to represent Londoners across our city, and work with Sadiq Khan leading the campaign in London up to May.”
