A SCHEME to help create jobs has won an award.

The Burnt Oak Opportunity Support Team (BOOST) was given the award from the Department of Work and Pensioners.

BOOST has also been shortlisted for a DWP excellence award which will be announced later this year.

The project, part of the West London Alliance’s Working Places scheme, is made up of staff members from Barnet Homes, JobCentre Plus and Barnet Council’s benefit’s service and education team.

Its main aim is to help people in Burnt Oak – one of the most deprived areas of Barnet – find a job.

Barnet Homes chief executive, Troy Henshall said: “I have been amazed by the positive impact BOOST has had on the community in just six short months and am proud that Barnet Homes is one the partners involved in this success.”
