AN INTERNATIONAL fashion brand will come to Barnet as part of a major redevelopment to a shopping centre.

Hunter Real Estate has announced an H&M store will be at the heart of the refurbished Spires shopping centre in High Street, Barnet.

A planning application submitted to Barnet Council following public exhibition last December also included the creation of three new restaurants, new contemporary landscaping and improvements to the public areas inside and outside the centre.

Fund manager at Hunter Andrew Moffat said: “H&M’s arrival in Barnet will bring a new fashion offer to the area and, together with our proposals for three new restaurants will boost Barnet’s night time economy.

“Our plans build on recent refurbishments at the centre and will complement existing tenants such as Waitrose and local favourite Coffee Bean, ensuring The Spires continues to be a valuable hub for the local community.”

Hunter bought The Spires Shopping Centre in July 2015 and these latest proposals build on work already completed at The Spires.

They include the refurbishment of the main high street entrance which is now home to Italian deli Carluccio’s and Anytime Fitness gym.

Hunter hopes to attract more retailers to the centre in the future.
