A SPECIAL night has been organised to raise money for a four-year-old boy battling leukaemia.
Joe Frenchum, of High Barnet, was diagnosed with cancer when he was two-years-old.
He underwent months of chemotherapy and went into remission in January 2014.
However, the disease returned in November last year.
Joe’s latest treatment is a final attempt to send him back into remission, and received a bone marrow transplant three weeks ago.
Joe is known as Jedi Joe, in a nod to his love of Star Wars, and his parents, Tina Dillon, and father, Dean Frenchum, are planning to create a Star Wars themed bedroom.
Family friends Donna Martin, and her daughter Jodie, have organised a community night in Barnet's Conservative Club, on September 24, to raise money for Joe’s treatment.
She said: “The response has been huge and it is now a ticket only event with only about 20 tickets remaining so there will be no entry on the night without a ticket.
“We have a huge raffle with major football teams donating amazing prizes and locals businesses have been so generous with their donations.
“We are hoping to raise enough money on the night to send the family on a well-deserved holiday. They are a truly amazing family and Joe is a gorgeous happy little boy even after going through all of this - they really do deserve it."
Entry to the event is £5 per person and children can go free. A raffle has been planned, with a disco and a buffet available.
