The search for a Polish woman who went missing in Mill Hill has stepped up.

Irena Wawszczak went missing last Monday (October 24) when she left a coach trip at a services in Mill Hill.

Police tents have been set up by Finchley Nursery in Burtonhole Lane.

Officers were seen searching footpaths in the area and a police helicopter was also seen.

The Metropolitan police has confirmed to the Times Series this is all part of the search for Ms Wawszczak.

CCTV footage was released earlier this week, representing the last known sightings of the 62-year-old.

She had been to Northampton visiting her son and her coach was on its way back to Poland.

Ms Wawszczak only had £50 in cash on her, with no further access to money, no working mobile phone or travel card and she speaks little English.

Described as a white, slim-built woman with short black hair and black glasses, she was last seen wearing a dark coloured coat with a purple/pink fleece lining and carrying a cream bag with short handles.

Police have asked anyone with information on her whereabouts to call 101 or their missing people line on 116000.
