Another case of vandalism has been uncovered days after a series of anti-Semitic hate crimes across Barnet.

Over the weekend, a woman had eggs pelted at her in the street from a passing car in Mill Hill and a brick was thrown through the window of a home in Edgware with a Swastika symbol etched onto it.

Incidents of offensive graffiti were also found around the borough and now community security charity Shomrim has revealed CCTV footage of a man keying cars outside a synagogue in Hendon.

The images show a man walking outside the Od Yosef Hai, in Finchley Lane, scratching every car out front of the building around 8.45pm on Sunday, January 15 – almost a week before the other incidents.

While there is no firm evidence the act of vandalism is directly anti-Semitic, the man is seen to stop scratching cars once he is past the synagogue.

An unnamed spokesperson for Shomrim NW London said: "While no specific anti-Semitic inscriptions were scratched on these vehicles, Shomrim volunteers have reviewed hours of CCTV and have noted on at least 2 occasions, what appears to be the same individual criminally damages only the vehicles parked outside the Synagogue and Community Centre.

"We are liaising with police in Barnet and are in the process of reviewing other CCTV in the area.

"Anti-Semitic crime is underreported in the orthodox Jewish community.

"The recent incidents in the Borough of Barnet have encouraged others to come forward and report.

"We encourage victims of crime to report it to police so it can be investigated and subsequently perpetrators of crime will be caught."

Anyone who can identify the man or has further information is asked to call the police on 101 or report to Shomrim at 0300 999 1234.
