As mid-summer's day approaches so does one of the country's biggest traditional village fayres.

This year the Croxley Revels will be held on June 24, the nearest Saturday to the summer solstice on Croxley Green.

The festival continues to grow each year, with an estimated 7000 to 9000 people turning up to the occasion.

From 1.30pm the annual procession will kick off the celebrations.

Guests will be able to enjoy traditional festival highlights like the crowning of this year's Revel Princess, Taekwon-do exhibition, a gymnastics display, and a tug of war tournament

Dotted around the site will be amagician, a mobile petting farm, a steel band, children's funfair, and inflatable bouncy slide and roving entertainers.

There will be almost 100 stalls stretching almost the entire green.

The festival's finale will be the world famous schools’ Pushball Tournament where teams of pupils try to push a six-foot beach-ball through goals.

Croxley Revel organiser Barry Grant said the committee last year's fayre were extremely satisfied at last year's event.

He said: "The fact we involve so many local groups, including the schools and other organisations, makes the event self-perpetuating.

“The support we receive is amazing.”
