An MP hosted an evening of celebration for young people who graduated his summer programme.

Finchley and Golders Green MP, Mike Freer, hosted the young people in Parliament who attended his fourth three-day summer school programme, which this year was held in July.

The pupils got the chance to watch a live debate, tour the Supreme Court and spend a day in the constituency, where this year they delivered a leaflet for a health check-up event in Ballards Lane and watch a debate, chaired by Mr Freer, on student loans.

Mr Freer said: "I was very impressed with the hard work the young people put in – particularly their research and debating skills.

"The Summer School is designed to give local young people an insight into the world of politics and to get involved and they really rose to the challenge."

The celebration evening was held in the Jubilee Room and attended by 20 young people and their parents, who were then given a guided tour of the House of Commons after the pupils received their certificates.
