A Christmas breakfast was held t o raise awareness and funds for good causes across the borough.

The event, held at Spizzico in High Street, Barnet, is a monthly business networking event for those based in the area, which also seeks to support charities working nearby.

At the Christmas edition of the breakfast a number of speakers discussed local charities, including the Mayor of Barnet, Cllr Brian Salinger, who spoke about Homeless Action in Barnet, Mike Jordan, chairman of Barnet Museum, who discussed next June's Medieval festival, and Susie Earnshaw of The Bull Theatre about their upcoming pantomime.

Mayor Salinger said: "Every mayor chooses a charity or charities to support during their mayoral year. I’ve only chosen one and it’s Homeless Action in Barnet, which runs a day centre in Woodhouse Road.

"I’ve been involved with HAB now for well over 30 years and they do a great job. Last year they served around 13,000 meals for the homeless and the vulnerable."

A raffle at the event also raised £150 for Rail Pastors, who provide emotional support vulnerable people on the rail network.
