Post office customers can drop in to have their say over its relocation.

The Post Office will hold the forum to discuss their proposal to relocate the North Finchley to a premises in High Road, North Finchley in April.

The proposal includes refurbishing the shop, adding an automatic door, incorporating greeting cards, gifts and stationery for sale alongside the post office, which will have seven serving points, seating, PIN pads and hearing loops.

The same services currently provided at the North Finchley post office, except for the Home Office's biometric enrolment service.

The proposal has attracted some criticism from the Labour councillors in the area and Andrew Dismore AM, who fear the smaller premises will mean a deterioration in the quality of the service.

West Finchley councillor Kath McGuirk said: "North Finchley has retained its crown Post Office when Finchley Central and East Finchley have lost theirs.

"It is much loved and needed by the local community. The loss could be yet another blow to the North Finchley town centre."

A Post Office spokesman responded, saying the proposal is about ensuring long-term sustainability for the branch and safeguarding the services it offers, which are much the same as in its current branch.

The forum will take place on January 31 in Carey Room, Trinity Church, in Nether Street, between 3pm and 7pm, and the public is welcome to attend at any point between those times.

The consultation is open until February 21.
