Mill Hill 3 - 0 South Bucks It was David v Goliath: Half a county against a North London tube stop (and on a branch line at that) but Mill Hill had brought their sling stones.

The home side's first clean sheet for at least a very long time and goals by Pete and two from Solly secured an excellent result.

South Bucks, who accompanied Mill Hill down from the regional division last season, arrived brimming with confidence. They huffed and puffed and blew a fuse or two but the home side's performance was of such professionalism that the result was never in doubt.

Having scored 17 in the past two games, the Millers were comfortable throwing the ball around, though the spectre of self-destruct has never been fully banished.

However, it was South Bucks who slammed their fist on the big red button, seeing two players sent to the sin-bin for excessive grumpiness. Throughout the 70 minutes, their team showed the sense of humour which has made Joey Barton one of the country's most loved sportsmen.

But Mill Hill were too good to get drawn down and where two up at the break. Pete's neat cover drive finished off a short corner and Warra illustrated how, if at first you don't succeed, fluff, fluff and pass to Solly for the second.

During the second half the game became scrappy, with Mill Hill penned back but never really vulnerable.

The third goal, however, was an absolute peach, smooth juicy tasty and with a hard nut in the middle (that was Craig). Though Solly's finish looks suspiciously like a miscontrol, the fact that he had managed to get anywhere near the goal belied his veteran status. I'd like to say that after a week skiing he slalomed through the opposition defence but even Tom Cruise wouldn't believe that.

Ryan, meanwhile decided that if he wasn't going to score a hatrick he wasn't going to score at all. For once, he wasn't needed.
