Sixteen students from an adult education centre in Hampstead Garden Suburb received awards for their outstanding progress and achievement on Wednesday.
The pupils, from the Skills for Life department at The Institute, based in High Road, East Finchley, are of different nationalities and have been studying English, vocational courses and information computer technology (ICT).
A spokeswoman for The Institute said that many had overcome immense challenges and all had worked extremely hard for their achievements.
Awards were given for "highest achievement" and "greatest progress" in a number of different categories.
The Institute's principal, Fay Naylor, said: "All the students have gained more skills, knowledge and self-confidence and are able to pursue the lives and jobs they want as a result of the courses they have followed.
"I am very proud to be able to acknowledge their achievements in this way."
The Skills for Life department is part of the Hampstead Garden Suburb Institute, which has been providing Adult Education in London since 1909.
