A flat formerly used as a cannabis factory is up for auction.

The two-bedroom flat at 77b Ballards Lane, Finchley Central, will need a “programme of refurbishment” once it is in the hands of new owners due to its previous use.

Seller Auction House London has showcased the property immediately after it was cleared, with images of reflective sheeting covering a room and pipes and wires hanging from the ceiling.

Pots filled with soil can also be seen around the room, with fans used to help with cannabis production on the wall.

Along with the bedrooms, it consists of a reception room, kitchen, bathroom and separate toilet.

Auction House says the property is held on a 125-year lease from July 7, 2015.

Advertising the flat near Finchley Central station, the estate agent wrote: “The property is situated on a residential road close to local shops and amenities.

“The open spaces of Victoria Park are within easy reach. Transport links are provided by Finchley underground station (Northern line).”

It is up front in stating the flat’s history of being a cannabis factory.

Barnet Council granted planning permission last year for the conversion of the existing loft and second floor flat into two self-contained flats incorporation new rear dormer window.

Auction House London has clarified that clean-up operations after illegal activities is not part of the auction house's responsibility.

A spokesperson said: "We believe in giving our buyers all the information they need to make an informed decision, and it is important to provide a fair representation of the property in its current form.

"We pride ourselves on transparency and honesty in all our dealings and maintain our high standards, even with properties that may have a controversial past.

"Selling properties with a history of illegal activity can be challenging; our buyers must be well-informed about the properties they purchase. Our buyers are our priority, and we believe providing them with a fair and ethical auction experience is critical for their satisfaction and peace of mind."

It is for sale on March 15 at 9am, and potential buyers can view the property on March 8, March 10 and March 14 between 11am to 11.30am.
