So volunteer football coach Giuliano Orrico has been threatened with legal action by big, bad, bullying Barnet Council for the heinous crime of trying to make the derelict Pavilion Way sports pitch fit for its intended use by young people (Coach told to stop using the field of his dreams', Times Series, June 26).
Now why would the Conservative-controlled council allow this facility to become derelict in the first place? Could it be that the council is trying to create facts on the ground - namely, that it would take too much money to put it back into good condition - leading to a sell-off to property developers? Would the council do such a thing?
You bet it would. I urge Burnt Oak residents to oppose the council and support Mr Orrico's praiseworthy efforts.
