Staying at De Vere Latimer Estate in Buckinghamshire in the enchanting weeks leading up to Christmas was nothing short of magical.

From the moment I stepped into the festively adorned estate, I knew I was in for a truly special experience.

De Vere Latimer Estate has a fascinating history, as it all started in 1194 AD when there was the first mention of a manor house at Latimer.

Times Series: Then, during World War II, it became a secret centre for military intelligence, earning a reputation as one of Britain's most secretive homes.

Now, the historic estate has been converted into a hotel with modern spaces and elegant suites.

As I arrived at the estate, I couldn’t help but admire the stunning exterior of the mansion house and how well-maintained the grounds surrounding the building were.

Times Series: De Vere Latimer Estate is currently decked with tasteful Christmas decorations, and the scent of evergreen filled the air.

The estate's charm was elevated to a whole new level, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a cozy and festive retreat.

The room we were appointed was effortlessly chic, offering a perfect balance between comfort and sophistication.

Times Series:

My room was spacious, meticulously clean, and featured modern amenities that complemented the classic décor.

The attention to detail in the room's design made for a cosy and inviting atmosphere.

The public spaces, including the reception, bars, and dining areas, were adorned with tasteful Christmas trees and twinkling lights.

Times Series:

My sister and I enjoyed a three-course dinner at the 1838 restaurant and bar during the evening, which is located in the Mansion House part of the estate.

The restaurant's menu featured a diverse selection of dishes, and the quality of the food was commendable.

For starters, I chose the creamy burrata whilst my sister had the smoked salmon – these were priced between £12-£15.

Times Series:

For our mains, we both opted for the chargrilled 227g sirloin of dry aged beef which came with Chunky chips, roast Portobello mushroom and tomato - this was priced at £32.

Times Series:

This premium cut, aged to perfection, delivered a melt-in-your-mouth experience with every bite, and paired perfectly with the mushroom.

Despite having full stomachs, we had to try the desserts, and I enjoyed the rich, warm, chocolate fondant with vegan vanilla ice cream.

Times Series:

The culinary offerings during my stay were exceptional, the dining atmosphere was convivial, and the staff's attire added to the overall merriment.

The staff at De Vere Latimer Estate had a warm and welcoming demeanour, combined with an efficient and attentive approach – they really made our stay worthwhile.

After a peaceful sleep in what felt like the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, my sister and I enjoyed a delicious cooked breakfast and explored the formal gardens and grounds surrounding the estate.

Times Series:

We discovered the trails leading to different corners of Buckinghamshire and got lost in the sweeping views of the Chess Valley – it was truly a breath-taking experience and one perfect for people who find peace in nature.

Before we knew it, we checked out of our room and said goodbye to the beautiful estate, but our trip wasn’t over just yet.

Being just 20 minutes away, we had to pop down to have a Butterbeer with our good friend Harry Potter, at the world-famous Warner Bros. Studios Tour London.

Times Series: De Vere Latimer Estate is situated just 10 minutes’ drive from Junction 18 of the M25, so the journey was quick, simple and exciting, as my sister and I debated (argued) which Hogwarts House we we’re in (Slytherin).

Our 24-hour trip was incredible from start to finish, as De Vere Latimer Estate is a hidden gem in Buckinghamshire, providing a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life in London.

Times Series: The combination of historic charm, modern amenities, and exceptional service makes it an ideal destination for a weekend getaway or a special occasion.

I would highly recommend De Vere Latimer Estate to anyone seeking a refined and tranquil retreat throughout the Christmas period.

My stay was a memorable one, and I look forward to returning to this idyllic haven in the future.
