Mill Hill 9 -2 Ramgaria Mill Hill rolled back the clock to produce a performance on par with their promotion winning 2008 season against a stunned Ramgaria. With 13 points separating the two sides in the league, the game looked like a mismatch from the start. And so it proved to be.

Ryan Sclander’s, despite a niggling waterskiing injury, showed a welcome return to form upfront, after failing to trouble the scorers since before Christmas. With practically his first touch he was sneaking past three defenders and firing home reverse stick. Despite misfiring at short corners he managed to take his personal tally for the game to four, and could have doubled that had he not unselfishly opted to give the glory to teammates on a number of occasions.

From the start Ramgaria struggled to cope with the dynamism of the Mill Hill midfield. Like mobility scooters at Le Mans, they struggled to keep up with the pace. They had arrived expecting a walk in the park but the conditions they encountered were more akin to the warfields of Afghanistan.

Dan Stockhill, without a job since December, also remains without a goal after he smashed a shot against the post. In contrast, Matt Larner, showed the patience and professionalism fostered during his day job as a teacher when he neatly finished off a rebound. The wise old owl ghosted into the D with ruthless guile to swoop onto his prey and give the home side a two goal cushion.

Ramgaria registered two goals from break-aways, and it couldn't be denied that they went down fighting - indeed the more they went down, the more they fought - with their own team as much as the opposition.

However most of the action was going on at the other end. Pete Lazlett finished off a short corner but defender Ian Namey stole the show. He produced an Enron-style transformation from effective, reliable utility at the back to dynamic and slick powerhouse. His frequent raids gave him two goals and could easily have made him liable for a post game jug. Results from his drug test next week.

By the time the final whistle blew neither side could really believe what had happened. And the league co-ordinator remained equally incredulous when Pete phone in the result, consulting his calendar to check that he hadn't missed an entire month and unexpectedly found himself at the beginning of April.
