A BARNET mother completed a gruelling 100-mile bike ride to raise funds for a cash-strapped trampolining charity.

Theresa Bull finished the Norwich 100 after ten hours in a bid to help the Barnet Trampolining for All group, which helps disabled youngsters enjoy the activity.

She told the Times Series: “We set up the club about four years ago and cater for any children with a statemented disability in Barnet.

“It really means everything to these kids. My son Luke, who is disabled, really loves it as it gives him a chance to strengthen his muscles and socialise with other kids.

“We also have youngsters with things like ADHD and autism and it teaches them discipline, taking turns and about having fun with other children.”

However, the group is struggling to raise funds to carry on helping youngsters in the borough from its base at Queen Elizabeth Girl's School, in Barnet.

Mrs Bull added: “We have had grants in the past, but we don't have anyone working for us full-time and they are very time-consuming to apply for without any guarantee of success.

“This club is so important and I don't know how we would break it to the children if we do have to stop. It's hard enough to explain when we have to break for school holidays.”

As part of the fundraising efforts, Mrs Bull completed the 100-mile ride through the Norfolk countryside on Sunday.

She added: “It was really gruelling and pretty tough going, but I'm glad I did it. It was a little wet but the weather was pretty good, which helped a lot.”
