AN Edgware designer is hoping to join the fashion fraternity after winning a celebrity inspired T-shirt competition.

Shoppers went “Gaga” for Paul Attwood's design in a fashion show for the competition earlier this year, which was organised by the Broadwalk shopping centre, in Station Road.

Mr Attwood, 34, said was his idea came from international pop star Lady Gaga when producing the design.

He said: “I designed the T-shirt in November so I was trying to predict who would be big in the coming year.

“Lady Gaga has just gotten bigger and bigger and she's all about the fashion.”

Krisp Clothing Co. announced on Thursday that they will stock the winning design in their branch at the Edgware shopping centre.

The T-shirt, which features lyrics from Lady Gaga's song Beautiful, Dirty, Rich, is expected to sell well after a great response from voters, and the controversial lyrics will be popular with Gaga fans.

Competition organiser Dina Mistry, marketing manager for the shopping centre, hopes the limited stock of T-shirts will be ready for sale by the end of July.

She said: “We rushed one T-shirt through production so we could have a photo, but the final design will be a ladies fitted shirt with a cap sleeve.”

Out of 26 entries, Mr Attwood's design won with a majority of the votes, and Ms Mistry added: “It was a clear winner so obviously people like it.”

The organisers said they came up with the idea for the event to encourage the community to get involved in what happens at The Broadwalk Centre.

Ms Mistry said: “It's just a community shopping centre so it's really nice to get local people from Edgware involved.”

After seeing his final design in the Krisp store, Mr Attwood said: “It's really great to see it in the shops.

“Having my print on clothes rails is the real prize for me.”
