A MAN is being held in custody in connection with a serious assault in Friern Barnet yesterday morning.
Police said a 21-year-old man remains in a serious but stable condition at a central London hospital following the attack in Friern Barnet Road, at about 4am.
The victim was found bleeding and with serious head injuries close to the junction with Beaconsfield Road.
Police said a 20-year-old man was arrested at nearby address later in the morning and taken to a north London police station for questioning.
Officers were yesterday afternoon standing guard outside the property, which is across the road from Princess Park Manor estate.
One eye witness described seeing forensic experts picking up items from the pavement in front of the terraced housing.
The man added: βIt is quite a nice area which is why I was surprised to see something like this going on.β
