A “DAZZLING” extravaganza of music and dance has been arranged to mark Diwali celebrations at a Golders Green Temple.

More than 350 people are expected to turn out for the Hindu festival at the Shree Swaminarayan Temple, in Finchley Road, this Saturday, from 6pm to 8pm.

Guests include the Deputy Mayor of London, Richard Barnes, Hendon MP Matthew Offord, and Finchley and Golders Green MP Mike Freer, along with residents and other faith leaders.

The event will feature dance music and traditional food, and Muks Rabadia, spokesman for the Temple, said: “They will enjoy a dazzling spectacular and a taste of the colour, sound and universal beauty of Diwali and the New Year.

“They can sample some culinary delights, as well as listen to, watch and participate in this interactive extravaganza of traditional Indian dance and music.”

The celebrations also tie in with the ten year anniversary of the Temple installing marble idols in a shrine.

Saturday's festivities are the latest in a whole host of charitable ventures which have included a Sports Relief Mile, a Bupa 10k run, and a Health and Heart Foundation walk for Northwick Park Hospital.

The tenth anniversary celebrations will end this month with a Diwali blood drive and the inaugural national Sewa Day, which encourages people to give their time to a worthy cause in the community.
