THE Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead will consult residents on its plans to get foundation trust status next week.

Chairman, Dominic Dodd and chief executive David Sloman will discuss the proposal at the Eversfield Centre, in Eversfield Gardens, Mill Hill on Tuesday February 15 at 1.30pm.

If the Royal Free becomes a foundation trust it would stay within the NHS but become more independent and have greater financial freedom.

It is hoped this would make the hospital more accountable to residents and patients.

The event will be hosted by Barnet Local Involvement Network (LINk), a volunteer-led group which ensures residents and organisations are involved in decision-making on health and social services.

Ian Kaye, chairman of the group said: “Our remit is to ensure residents are able to influence how services are planned and delivered.

“We also help investigate, report on and improve services.”
