Barnet Council chief executive orders 'audit' of secret filming firm MetPro's contract

AN “AUDIT” is to be carried out over Barnet Council’s contract with controversial security firm MetPro.

Today chief executive Nick Walkley has sanctioned officers to examine closely the “arrangements surrounding this contract with MetPro”.

The move comes after a group of residents called for a full independent inquiry into how MetPro, which went bust last month, came to be given the contract and how they were allowed to secretly film people attending last month’s full council budget setting meeting.

Barnet Council has already denied sanctioning the secret filming, and today added in a statement: “Once the council was aware MetPro had gone into liquidation it terminated its contract, as is normal practice.

“Given the circumstances of the termination, the Chief Executive Nick Walkley has asked for a full audit of the arrangements surrounding this contract with MetPro.

“This will also make sure that any lessons learned will be passed on to the rest of the organisation.

"Any such report would go before the audit committee as part of its normal activity."

They just don't get it. They have been caught out, and the only way they can restore trust is with an independent public enquiry. No doubt they'll complain and have this comment removed, like all the other comments they don't like. What have they got to hide? What have they got to fear?

Their own individual morality if they had any, which is why local government employs such people to line their pockets from taxpayers - They call it remuneration.

how long, Mr Walkley is 'as soon as'? What we are owed is a full, honest and PUBLIC inquiry, with all questions answered. I'm not holding my breath. And I repeat: what happened to the comments, which were perfectly reasonable, on the other article?

But hold on, after the liquidation, didn't the council then appoint another security company with a remarkably similar name (by co-incidence, of course), and only later sack THEM?
.
So will the 'inquiry' cover all that as well, in this ever-growing 'Securitygate' crisis?

yet again, some very interesting questions, Jon: let's see how long these comments stay up, shall we?
