HENDON’S MP says he is “shocked” by the murder of a 27-year-old Brazilian in a Burnt Oak brothel.

Carlos Roberto Oliveria, of Clapham, died of a single stab wound to the heart at a brothel in Watling Avenue, at around 3.50am, on Saturday.

Matthew Offord, Tory MP for Hendon, said: “These places do attract undesirable people. While it’s obviously very shocking, it’s not a new phenomenon in Barnet and across London.”

He added: “It comes down to the prevalence of people carrying and using weapons and that’s the shocking thing. We really must get sentences to act as a deterrent."

Detective Inspector Leon James, of the Met's murder squad, said: "We are keen to identify witnesses who may have seen people entering or leaving the premises.

"We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a group of men outside the location.

"We ask anyone with information to contact us - all calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence."

Next-of-kin have been informed and an inquest will be opened and adjourned in due course.

Anyone with information can contact detectives on 0208 358 0100, or Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
