MORE than 150 bus drivers at Metroline Potters Bar are calling for industrial action over mistreatment by management.

Drivers, through union Unite, have voted in favour of the action but are yet to set a date.

Unite representative John Murphy, commenting on the dispute, said drivers had been suspended or terminated for minor incidents such as missing dates on log cards, minor bus only collisions and parking incorrectly in the private car park.

Mr Murphy attributed this to management’s preference for recruiting new drivers, whose training is funded by Transport for London, and who are paid £3 less per hour than current drivers.

When the Times Series contacted Metroline, they were unaware of the impending action and referred the call to Unite.

The Potters Bar depot run nine London routes, including central London, commercial routes between North London, Waltham Abbey and St Albans, routes to Barnet Hospital, Chase Lodge Hospital and school routes.
