Casuals needed all their battling qualities to escape with a draw from Wodson Park in Ware, Enfield's current ground sharing home, after being on the wrong end of some controversial decisions for the majority of this fixture.

With the list of walking wounded which has counted strikers Gay and McCollin for several weeks now added to by their loan signing replacement Emmanuel Hounza himself getting a knock on Tuesday, manager Brian Adamson promoted Michael Corbett from the reserves.

The big fellow had a quite stunning impact on the game in the seventh minute when a defensive header fell to him 25 yards out and he lashed an unstoppable volley past Paul Daley.

The opening half hour was highly entertaining with both teams going on the offensive.

Brett Donnelly placed a short-range header straight at Colin Harris and Rico Morris curled a free kick marginally over Daley's bar.

The midfield battle between Aaron Colt-Bolt and Paul Oshin was getting quite tasty with both players giving their all.

Colt-Bolt picked up a harsh booking for a trip and was soon caught full in the face by Oshin's boot which went unpunished.

Their personal battle continued with Colt-Bolt this time tripping Oshin which referee Mr Rock immediately deemed worthy of another booking, therefore becoming red.

With Casuals having barely picked up a card of any description all season, further bookings for Kane Sergeant and Andy Gibbons seemed to prove the theory that if you rolled on the floor for long enough some action would be taken (although to be fair to Mr Rock, Gibbon's yellow card was one of the more blatantly obvious this season as he scythed down an Enfield player in midfield!) The sending-off stunned Casuals and they took until half-time to get settled again.

Harris tipped round an Owen Beale free-kick and was beaten by Donnelly but the linesman had long since flagged for off-side.

Corbett drove a speculative drive wide just before the break but Casuals were glad to hear the half-time whistle.

The second period started with Casuals invigorated again.

A terrific run by Jamie Byatt beat Kevin Kilroy and as he ran along the deadball line he made a little room for himself but was denied by Daley's legs. Craig Dunne's corner was met by an acrobatic Byatt scissors kick but the ball sailed over the bar.

The combination was reversed in the 50th minute following another fine Byatt run, this time down the right.

His cross was met by a far post Dunne header that Daley did well to push round the post but a goal kick was awarded.

Enfield brought on big Sherwin Stanley and it soon proved a wise move.

Beale, the E's best player on the day finally had someone to aim at with his excellent crosses and the pair caused havoc for the reminder of the game.

Stanley put a hat-trick of headers wide from corners and forced a wonderful save from Harris with one close-range effort.

He did get one header on target in the 55th minute, a thumping close range header that gave Harris no chance.

Aside from the occasional break it was one-way traffic for the last half-hour with Dan Costelloe going closest with a fine volley.

The irrepressible Byatt almost stole it for Casuals at the death after chasing another seemingly lost cause.

He gave Kilroy a torrid afternoon and having nicked the ball off him, Byatt drove at goal and some vicious swerve produced an excellent instinctive save from Daley who somehow managed to get an elbow in the way at the last minute.
