Thirty people are staging a sit-in at Friern Barnet Library which is due to be closed by Barnet Council.
Supporters of Save Friern Library Group are protesting against the closure with banners saying 'Save Our Library'.
Speaking at the protest, Maureen Ivens said: "Council security people are turning up now but we're going to stay here for a number of hours. We want to make our views known to the whole community."
The library was due to be closed at 4pm but a Barnet Council spokesman has confirmed the library has now been closed and will not be reopened. More to follow.
