A Finchley man is preparing to run a half marathon in aid of the National Autistic Society.
Phillip Lang, 36, will be one of 12,500 people taking part in the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon on Sunday, October 7.
Mr Lang decided to run for the NAS because his three-year-old niece Felicity Lang has autism.
Jenny Lang, Mr Lang’s sister and Felicity’s mum, said: “I’m so pleased and proud that my brother is running to raise money for the NAS.
“In the early stages when autism was something new and unfamiliar for the family, the NAS was a great source of support and provided a lot of useful information at a difficult and uncertain time.”
Mr Lang said: “One of the hardest things for my sister about Felicity’s condition is the fact that because autism causes communications problems, Felicity still cannot tell her how she feels, if she is worried unwell, or just needs a cuddle.
“I’m hoping to raise as much money as possible to help other families in similar situations and make sure they’re able to get the support they need.”
