A Finchley motorbike enthusiast plans to ride his motorbike around the British Isles to raise money for the North London Hospice.

Mike Middleton, of Summers Lane, will travel on his Suzuki 750cc without money or food and will rely on people's good will to survive.

The North London Hospice cares for patients with serious and life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Former courier Mike has always had passion for motorbikes and has been riding for 25 years so considering other modes of transport was out of the question.

The 33-year-old said: “Motorbikes are my passion so I couldn’t imagine driving anything else.”

The motor head is in talks with various sponsors to cover his £600 fuel bill but says he also needs the help of the general public.

Mike believes the work the North London Hospice does is invaluable and although being used to travelling on two wheels, he says he is looking forward to delivering some much needed cash to the North London Hospice. The cause is especially close to his heart having had two friends who were cared for there.

He said: “The hospice takes the time to make these people comfortable and happy in the last leg of their journey.”

Armed with nothing more than a tent in his rucksack, Mike anticipates that trying to get food will be the biggest challenge of the trip.

He said: “It is not going to be great, begging for food, but it has to be done. I’m excited about the trip and I’m looking forward to it.”
