Darts legend Bobby George will lend a helping hand to campaigners fighting to bring Barnet FC back to the borough next week.

The charismatic ‘King of Bling’ will play ten legs of darts at an exhibition match - including some against lucky members of the crowd - and take part in a question and answer session during a special event at the Bull Theatre in High Barnet.

Profits made on ticket sales and from the bar on Friday, November 22, will go towards the Barnet FC Supporters’ Trust’s Back2Barnet campaign.

The group is attempting to raise £75,000 to cover the costs of submitting a planning application for a new stadium in Barnet to bring the club back to the borough.

The Bees moved to The Hive stadium in neighbouring Harrow earlier this year but club chairman Tony Kleanthous has agreed with the supporters’ trust request to submit stadium plans if the trust can cover the cost of the application to Barnet Council.

The trust has so far raised almost £5,000 and is organising numerous fundraisers over the coming months to boost its campaign, including the evening with darts World Championship finalist Bobby George.

Ticket holders have an opportunity to meet the sporting legend and enter a draw to play a leg of darts against him on the night.

Supporters trust chairman Derek Rocholl said: “Lots of our supporters are darts fans and we were looking to organise something different so this seemed perfect.

“This will be one of the biggest event fundraisers we’ve organised and we’re looking forward to it.”

Tickets cost £10, or £15 for a VIP ticket, and can be bought online via the supporters’ trust website here.

Alternatively, tickets can be reserved for payment and collection on the door by emailing info@bfctrust.co.uk or phone Derek Rocholl on 0770 437 4330.

Supporters’ trust members who purchase a normal ticket for £10 will be upgraded to a VIP ticket on the night on presentation of a valid supporters’ trust membership card.
