A father has branded parking rules “complete nonsense” after he was ticketed in error - only to have his appeal rejected.

Pavel Bogomolov, of Golders Green Crescent, Barnet, was fined £55 for leaving his car in a restricted bay outside his home, 19 hours after the suspension ended.

Motorists were banned from leaving their cars in the area from 8pm on November 20 to 2am on November 22, which Mr Bogomolov abided with.

But when moved his car back on November 22 at 8pm, he was "horrified" to be slapped with a fine.

Assuming it was an error he appealed, but was horrified when parking officers sided with wardens and said he had clearly flouted the rules.

The 52-year-old said: “I sent them photos of the suspension bay so I was quite shocked when they said I was in the wrong.

“How can this be? It is simple maths. They clearly can’t count if they’ve got something so wrong.

“I was even displaying my residents' permit. The whole thing is nonsense.”

Mr Bogomolov is now asking Barnet Borough Council to issue him with a formal apology as well as cover the cost of the postage expenses on the letter he sent appealing against the ticket.

He added: “It’s putting me under unnecessary stress and aggravation. I did all the right things, and so I am annoyed. I don’t deserve this.”

Times Series parking blogger Derek Dishman, who uses the alias Mr Mustard, is supporting Mr Bogomolov in attempting to get the incorrect charge revoked.

He said: “This one is beyond ridiculous, you couldn’t make it up.

"I think parking appeals clerks get blinded by the thought that the customer is always wrong and that they are 'letting them off' if they cancel. They should be more even-handed."

The Times Series is awaiting a comment from Barnet Council.
