A WHETSTONE student has been fined after admitting fare dodging and hitting two ticket inspectors who caught her in the act.

Anastasija Klimanova, 21, of Totteridge Lane, was fined £200 after pleading guilty to two counts of common assault and not paying the correct fare.

She was caught on October 15 trying to exit Victoria tube station with her Oyster card which did not have enough prepaid credit on it and had not been swiped in at the start of her journey.

Klimanova then hit one inspector who went to check her card as she was struggling at the barrier in the arm, before trying to run out.

She then punched another station worker who tried to intervene in the arm, at which point the British Transport Police were called.

Aidan Harris, London Underground’s workplace violence unit manager, said: “The Ticket Inspectors were simply doing their job and should not have been subjected to this sort of abuse.

“We take any violent or abusive behaviour towards our staff seriously and will always try our best to bring culprits to justice.  “Hopefully Klimanova will think twice before assaulting a member of our staff again.”

British Transport Police Inspector Kate Shaw said: “There is absolutely no justification for Klimanova’s actions and I welcome the fine handed down to her.

“Tube staff have the right to go to work without the fear of abuse or violence and wherever possible we will build a case against offenders and see them have their day in court.”

She was fined £75 for each of the two offences of common assault and fined a further £50 for fare evading.  She was also ordered to pay £80 court costs at the City of Westminster Magistrates Court, on December 18.
