A FINCHLEY primary school is launching a campaign to help the victims of the Haitian earthquake.

The children of Tudor Primary School in Queens Road are collecting change for those affected and planning further fundraising initiatives.

Co-headteacher Jude Stone said the school launched the campaign at assembly today, texting parents and asking for their ideas and support.

She hopes the children will come up with some good money-spinning schemes.

Mrs Stone said: “We've been doing Walk to School Day once a week and teaching the children about lowering carbon dioxide and helping the environment.

“And we talked to them about how climate change can affect the weather.

“Of course between last week's assembly and this week there's been this awful disaster so it was a natural progression really."

Mrs Stone said even though her pupils were primary school children they were still worried about the people affected by the disaster.

“The children are very concerned I would say. They listened very intently in assembly this morning.

“Two of them have already come to me in their lunch break to suggest fundraising ideas.”
