THE driver of a car involved in a fatal crash this morning has been released on bail following questioning by police.

The 49-year-old man was driving an Audi coupé when it was involved in an accident with a woman cyclist in Edgware Way just after 7.30am.

The 31-year-old cyclist was seriously injured after being thrown from her bike and declared dead at the scene shortly afterwards.

The driver was arrested following the crash and later released on bail until June 28 pending further investigations.

Officers have appealed for witnesses to the crash to come forward.

They believe the cyclist, who is from Edgware, was heading north towards Brockley Hill, Stanmore, when she was hit by the car as it left Edgware Way to get onto the M1.

A post-mortem has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 28 at Finchley Mortuary.
