YOUNG footballers took part in a fun-filled sporting event in aid of their Mill Hill based sports club, and a local charity yesterday.
Around 60 youngsters from Mill Hill Village Youth Sports Club in Burton Hole Lane enjoyed a range of activities including penalty shoot outs, a 5-a-side competition and a 5k run.
More than £2,000 was raised through donations and a raffle, and will be split between North London Hospice which supports people with life-limiting illnesses, and buying sporting equipment for the club.
Paul Tutty, manager of the under 13s team, said: “We wanted to help out a local charity and because my sister works in a hospice, I know how important it is for them to get funding.
“Everyone had a really great day and it’s definitely something we’re thinking about doing again.”
The youngsters were also thrilled to have former Newcastle United and Wimbledon manager Joe Kinnear cheering them on.
The day was rounded off as the Mayor of Barnet Councillor Lisa Rutter handed out awards to each player.
